Devotion: “This Is Your Church”

A Healthy Church
God never intended the church to be a stage with performers and spectators.
He didn’t call an audience. He called a body. He formed a family. He empowered every person with purpose.
This is not just the pastor’s church. Not just the platform’s church. This is your church.
1. You Are a Part of the Body
1 Corinthians 12:27
“Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.”
You belong here.
You are not a guest in God’s house—you are a member of His body. Not just in name, but in purpose.
The body doesn’t function with just one part. The church doesn’t function with just the pastor or worship team. If you’re part of the church—you’re part of the work.
Paul made it clear: this isn’t about a few doing everything. It’s about everyone doing something. The church is not complete without you.
2. Your Part Builds the Church
Ephesians 4:16
“From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth,
according to the effectual working in the measure of every part,
maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love.”
The church grows and thrives when every joint supplies.
That means:
- Your prayer life matters.
- Your faithfulness matters.
- Your worship shifts the atmosphere.
- Your service strengthens the church.
- Your giving sustains the mission.
You may never hold a microphone—but you still have a ministry.
Every part counts.
Every effort matters.
No one is exempt from the call to contribute.
3. Don’t Neglect God’s House
Haggai 1:4,8
“Is it time for you, O ye, to dwell in your cieled houses, and this house lie waste?
…Go up to the mountain, and bring wood, and build the house; and I will take pleasure in it, and I will be glorified, saith the Lord.”
In the days of Haggai, God’s people were comfortable. They were building their own homes—while the house of God was neglected.
God didn’t say, “Somebody should fix this.”
He said, “YOU. Go. Bring the wood. Build the house.”
God doesn’t just call us to attend church. He calls us to build it.
It’s not just the pastor’s responsibility.
It’s everyone’s work.
It’s your work.
4. Everyone Has a Role
Acts 6:1-4
1 And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied,
there arose a murmuring… because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.
2 Then the twelve called the multitude… and said, It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom,
whom we may appoint over this business.
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
The early church faced growing pains.
Needs were rising.
The apostles knew—they couldn’t do it all alone.
So they did what every healthy church must do:
They empowered the people.
They called others to serve.
They shared the responsibility.
That’s still the pattern today. We’re not just saved from sin—we’re saved for service.
Challenge Questions
- What are you supplying to the body?
- What part of the work has God entrusted you with?
- If everyone in the church matched your commitment—what would the church look like?
This Is Your Church
- Your prayers protect it.
- Your worship shapes the atmosphere.
- Your giving sustains the mission.
- Your serving advances the Kingdom.
- Your involvement makes a difference.
You’re not just in the church—You are the church.
